Sim-Sim Seafood Restaurant @ Sandakan

11 Jan

Dear Food lovers,

Sim-Sim Seafood Restaurant is a HALAL restaurant that serves assortment of seafood cuisine. The restaurant is located outside of the city. On a station pier that extends out towards the ocean. The restaurant has became a hot spot for seafood for both locals and tourists. The locals would usually buy their fresh seafood as ‘souvenir’ to relatives and friends that live out from Sandakan.  For tourists, you may hail a cab and ask to be dropped off at Sim Sim Bridge 8.
Since it’s by the pier, don’t hope for a 5 star restaurant as you may only find plastic furniture to accommodate their customers, a few workable fan and sea breeze to keep their customers off the heat and lastly a beautiful view of Sandakan coast.
As it is once quoted in a murder mystery novel by Edwin Rolfe & Lester Fuller (1946), “You can never tell a book by its cover”… restaurant might be slightly tacky, however the dishes being served was divine. Simple and common dishes being complemented with assortment of fresh seafood. You can tell if it’s fresh compared to the frozen seafood as every bite was juicy and chewy.
The food was relatively cheap too for the amount of fresh seafood that was served.
