Banyan Tree Signatures Pavilion Kuala Lumpur prestige dinner held in Ferdinand’s @ Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort

Dear Food lovers,

Last week, I attended this exclusive dinner function at Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort. The function was held at Ferdinand’s, an Italian restaurant that offers exquisite fine-dining experience. Claimed to be listed as one of Malaysia’s best restaurants by Malaysia Tatler.

The main reason of the function was to introduce the Banyan Tree Signatures Pavilion Kuala Lumpur project. According to the booklet,

“Banyan Tree Signatures Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is a strategic collaboration between Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s premier luxury shopping mall, and Banyan Tree, a globally recognized hospitality brand. The stunning 55-storey residential development, the tallest in Kuala Lumpur, will feature a branded development of the Banyan Tree Signatures Hotel & Spa. Banyan Tree Residences and serviced residences.”

Back to where I was…

Well this is probably my first post on fine dining, but anyhow, here we go…

A gastronomic experience sponsored by Hennessy XO and Sutera Harbour Ferdinand.

The night commenced with few drinks and chitchatting over canapés. Led on to a short introduction and an exchange of words by the honourable VIPs. I thought the theme of the function was slightly out of the blue as they decorated the place with plentiful of roses hanging from the ceiling, scattered rows of red flower petals, red candles, red menu, red name tag and red heart shape decorations all over the table. Would definitely be the perfect theme for Valentine’s Day.

Minutes after the short speech has ended, a seven course dinner was ready to be served.  All patrons were given an option to choose over baby lamb rack or codfish fillet as their main course. I shall go through the seven dishes for the night including the optional dishes.

1. Astice melt melion
(Lobster’s Tail with Apples and Blueberries Relish Caviar Buttermilk Dressing & Pistachios)

2. Risotto di rape & Taleggio
(A concoction of Carnaroli Rice & Roasted Red Beets, whipped Sweet Butter and Taleggio Cheese)

3. Lemon – Tangerine Sorbet

4. Nodino di Agnello
(Grilled Australian chilled Baby Lamb Rack, Wild Black Rice stuffed Tomato with Cognac & Shallot Cream)


4. Merluzzo all’arancia
(Pan Seared Atlantic Codfish Fillet with Cognac Citrus infused Saffron Fumet & Will Black Rice stuffed Tomato)

5. Asiago Cheese, Red Grape & Parisienne Melon with Mandelbrot Slice

6. Dolci momenti
(Apple Compote & Spiced Raisin Trifle with Cinnamon Anglaise Sauce and Millefeuille Fleuron)

7. Bittersweet Chocolate Praline Coverture & with Cognac Giandura Ganiche

Overall a fine night with excellent dishes, great ambiance, intellectual inputs and opinion sharing by the R.E agents and an entire new exclusive prestige dinner experience for myself. Definitely a night to remember.
