Kozan Teppan-Yaki @ Rasa Ria Resort, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu

1 Jan

Dear Food lovers,

Firstly, wanna wish you readers HAPPY NEW YEAR! May you have a blessed year, stuffed with love, happiness and success. Welcome to the year of 2012.

‘Teppanyaki‘ is a method of cooking, in which the chef prepares various assortments of seafood, fresh vegetables, lean chicken meat and tender beef slices in front of the customer and cooks the food by grilling them on a hot plate called ‘Teppan’.  ‘Yaki’ in Japanese term refers to ingredients that have been grilled, hence the term Teppanyaki.

The restaurant is located within a 5 Star resort, Rasa Ria Resort, located up North of Kota Kinabalu, off Pantai Dalit road.  A medium-size restaurant that could accommodate approximately thirty people or more, along with three massive hot plates for grilling purposes, long tables within the restaurant and several individual dinning tables on the outside.

There were several set menus to choose from. Price ranges from RM98-200+. I chose OSAKA set menu that consisted:-

1. Signature Appetizer (Edamame)
2. Cod Fish
3. Scallops
4. Salmon
5. King Prawn
6. Fried Spinach
7. Teppan-yaki Fried Rice
8. Pickles
9. Miso Soup
10. Kozan Ice-Cream of the Day

Optional – recommended varieties of Sake but I had hot green tea (お茶, Ocha) instead.

We spent several hours eating and chatting our way through the night. The chefs were entertaining and polite. Food was fresh, well cooked and flavoured.
Overall, a very amusing night, with great food and company
